And I Feel Fine

And I Feel Fine

It’s the end of the world as we know it..

Genre has started a new round and, this time, the theme is Post Apocalyptic. Chariot‘s contribution are these fabulous scavenged breastplates – they are modifiable so I had no trouble fitting them to my shape and the textures are exquisite, as always. There are three versions available: ‘Unstoppable‘ (pictured), ‘No Entry‘ and ‘Diverted‘ – they cost just L$50 each or you can buy all three for L$100. The round is open until December 12th and is packed full of incredible items so be sure to hop on over!

I also want to mention this androgynous ‘Jahne Doe‘ skin by Deluxe Body Factory because I am utterly in love with it! It’s one of the prizes in MadPea’s latest interactive hunt/game, Blood Letters. A modifiable shape is also included but I used my own because I really like the way it looks on my current face shape.

Blood Letters is an unusual and compelling murder-mystery game that unfolds a little bit each day. You need a HUD to play (costs L$400) which allows you to pick up clues – you receive prizes at the rate of one a day (if you miss a day, don’t worry – you can go back along the time line, you just can’t skip ahead) and then a bunch more at the end; they have all been stunning so far (you’ll have to wait a little longer for this skin as the story hasn’t reached that location yet.) I’ve been playing along and it really is a lot of fun with a great sense of community in the MadPea group as we all try to solve the case! The game runs until November 30th and the starting point is here; full instructions on how to play can be found over at the MadPea blog. The experience is most definitely adult-orientated so I would recommend making sure you are comfortable with the themes before taking part.

Thanks for reading – see you all soon!

I Want to Believe

I want to believeMadPea’s latest hunt Green Mire II – The Gathering is well under way – I had huge fun following it, especially as it’s not the traditional hunt we’ve become accustomed to where you hop from sim to sim looking for the same hidden object. Instead you wear a HUD and follow the story of the path you’ve chosen – the object (or person!) you’re looking for can vary greatly from place to place as you’re basically tracking down clues as you become immersed in the unfolding tale.

Some of the items can be challenging to find but there is always lots of friendly help in the MadPea group should you need it and, because the story is so engaging, I found that took a lot of the usual hunt frustration out of it as you really feel involved with what you’re doing. I completed both paths and I think the time commitment amounted to a few hours (I completed it in stages and had a good look around some fab sims I’d not seen before!) – you can always go back to where you left off, too, so it’s easy to just dip in and out as suits you. The hunt runs until October 30th so there is still plenty of time to take part at your leisure!

The HUDs cost just L$100 each with loads of prizes awaiting you at the end of each path – grab the one(s) you want at the starting location in the Green Mire.

You can also read an introduction to the hunt over on the MadPea blog here.

Scroll down for more pics & credits and, if you do decide to take part, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

To coincide with the hunt, some new Peawear has been released to really help you feel the part. It’s great-looking mesh with options for both guys and gals:

Wascally Wabbit

Wascally Wabbit
This month MadPea took part in the Bleeping Bunny Hunt which ended on the 15th (I know, I’m sorry).. but the great news is that the mini side-hunt that they ran as a sponsor is being left up until the end of the month so you still have time to have some fun and get your hands on the fab hunt prizes priced at just L$5 each. The Mini-Hunt will give you clues to different locations around The Green Mire – some objects will contain more clues (these are free to buy) and some will contain prizes such as the slippers and filthy-mouthed shoulder pet (modifiable so you can tone down the chat if you prefer!) pictured here. Find and click on the poster to receive your first clue and happy hunting!

Pretty much everything else I’m wearing is also by MadPea – you can find these other goodies and more free group gifts in the big hangar at the landing point. It’s always worth a good rummage around there, you never know what you might find! Also, if you’re in the mood for more puzzles (and haven’t yet completed it) see if you can solve The Green Mire Mystery which paves the way for the new hunt starting next month.. YAY!

Finally, a quick comment on the photo resolution – although things have been rezzing for me a whole lot better since I updated Firestorm, my computer seems to be having an off-day so I haven’t been able to make my photos as large and prettyful as I would like, but they are very honest – I’ve done a very little work on the exposure of the first photo and just cropped the close-up – such pretty skin!

See you soon! ❤

When Snails Attack! (Kagami 2014)

I’ve waited to post about sian’s awesome items (more about these after the next pic) for this Japanese horror themed event because I wanted to be able to experience it fully for myself – and I’m so glad I have because it’s truly amazing! There is so much to see and do – I really took my time and spent a good few hours there (in sessions) but I still feel like I want to go back and do more. You land at the market area and from there you can pick up a HUD and instructions on how to play the game in which you follow and interact with an unfolding storyline.. a kind of puzzle adventure. The theme is horror but it’s creepy in parts rather than terrifying and I found the overall atmosphere interesting and endearing.. and the builds are beautifully done. It’s also completely free to play!

I’m seriously impressed with all aspects – it’s just so fun and engaging and with the main puzzle, hunt & mini games within the game, there is lots to see and do! I’ve posted a collage of some of the pics I took as a teaser – but I’m giving no spoilers about the rest of the experience.. I hope you all have chance to find out for yourselves. Kagami will be available until the end of the month so there is still plenty of time. SLURL here or read more on the official website.

As I mentioned earlier, the landing point is a market, and here you can shop for some truly original items designed especially for the event. sian very kindly sent me Chariot’s blog pack which contains a wealth of items based on the manga series Uzumaki.. I confess I haven’t read any of the manga, nor seen the film (though I now very much want to!) but the items are exceptional. I’ve always loved snails – there is just something about them that make me smile so, to me at least, the skullclamp, earrings and bracelet hit a sweet spot between creepy/sinister and cute (because ‘OMG there’s another snail.. squee!) – I appreciate you may feel somewhat differently if you don’t like snails but you still gotta appreciate the gorgeous textures and originality.. I particularly love the bracelets for the snail trails! For each main item you buy there are bonus snails – for decor and for your hand – and there is also a fatpack of all the ‘Spiral Obsession‘ items available at a very reasonable L$400.

Seeing as I’ve been enthusiastic with my editing of the photo I’ve included a raw shot after the credits.. and a shot of the items displayed on a rather interesting mannequin head I picked up on the Marketplace. Hopefully they give you a little more detail, but I also recommend taking a look at sian’s flickr as the photos there are always incredibly beautiful and you’ll also be able to see the table in its full glory.

I hope you take the opportunity to visit Kagami while it’s there and show some love to the creators and participating designers if you’re able because without them our little world would be a whole lot less interesting!

See you soon!

Quoth the MadPea, “Please don’t eat me!”

Quoth the MadPea

MadPea has recently made a whole bunch of their older items available on the Marketplace for prices ranging from L$10L$100. They are a eclectic collection of Stuff and Things from past games and hunts created before mesh existed and you can find them all in a store named MadPea Productions’ old items. If you’ve been following MadPea for a while I’m sure many of these items will make you nostalgic.. but there is plenty to appreciate for the new player, too!

I was immediately drawn to the raven avatar as they are my very favourite bird.. and it is delightful! Included in the pack are all the usual body parts plus 2 versions of the head (with/without pea in beak) and a fab AO which has you bob and look around as you stand, hop as you walk and, of course, flap those wings as you fly. All for just L$10! Just watching it makes me smile – it’s really very well done.

I took the above photo at MadPea’s new spot in-world: The Green Mire – a dark swamp with its very own mystery. I’m still working through it (and I wouldn’t spoil it by giving out details anyway!) but you can read a little more on the back story over on the MadPea Blog. The Green Mire is also home to the MadPea’s mainstore which features their more current items. As with all of their builds, it’s a fun place to be whether you’er shopping, taking photos, practicing your detective skills or just looking for an atmospheric hangout!

Hope you’ve all been having a good week!

Caw!

MadPea: The Lost Mine

The Lost Mine 1 (Mad City)

Mad City

In case you’re unfamiliar with the name, MadPea provides some of the most engaging and innovative events and hunts I’ve ever seen in Second Life. I’ve recently been lucky enough to join their blogger group and I’m looking forward to sharing with you some of my love for all things Pea!

Their current hunt is The Lost Mine and it’s a total delight to experience. As is usual for a MadPea production, this hunt is more of a game than the traditional pixel-searching most often associated with Second Life hunts; yes, you do need to look for certain objects but there are puzzles to solve and places to explore too. I found it to be challenging enough to be interesting without being so frustrating I was tearing my hair out.

To begin you need to purchase the HUD available in Mad City. This costs L$150 and includes a bag you need to wear in order to collect your items. This is the only purchase necessary to take part in the hunt and collect your prizes, of which there are more than 20 – you can read more about these later in this post.

There are three main stages to the hunt: the first takes place in Mad City, the second in the Dwarfins sim and the third in The Lost Mine itself. The hunt HUD guides you easily through each stage but you can also find a detailed guide and introduction on the MadPea website here.

I don’t want to give away too many spoilers for the hunt because one of the pleasures for me in taking part in MadPea events are the surprises you encounter along the way. But, if you do get stuck, the MadPea group is a fun, friendly and free-to-join group that is full of people happy to help a lost adventurer.

Mine Entrance

Mine Entrance

Another thing that stands out for me with this hunt is the quality of the builds – everything looks amazing which is why I ended up getting so snap-happy! I have enhanced my photos slightly (because I pretty much always do!) but I took everything in the official viewer (on ultra) using the region environment settings and the raw shots don’t actually look that much different from what you see here.

Inside the Mine

Inside the Mine

The avatar I’m wearing is one of four available to purchase for this hunt (2 Dwarfins and 2 Peas), they are completely optional but a lot of fun to use. The Pea version includes a backpack that you can add tools to by playing the coordinating Gacha in Mad City – there are 5 tools to collect: binoculars, helmet, lantern, shovel and sledgehammer.

Deeper Inside

Deeper Inside

My little companion you can see pictured here is one of four available clue-finders.. again, it’s perfectly possible to complete the hunt without one, but I definitely found the first two stages less frustrating with my mini-me chatterbox tagging along. He wasn’t of any use in the mine itself but I so enjoyed watching his cute little feet try to keep up with me that I kept him rezzed.

A Beautiful Vista

A Beautiful Vista

After picking up my loot I hopped back to the mine’s entrance to admire the view once more before heading home to unpack my lovely boxes.

The Treasure's All Mine!

The Treasure’s All Mine!

These are only a handful of the prizes that await you on completion of The Lost Mine – there are over 20 in total including clothing, accessories, decor and more. You can see further prize previews here if you are so inclined.

The Lost Mine hunt will end on April 30th but, honestly, even if you haven’t started yet, you still have plenty of time to complete it – it’s a fairly short hunt that you can easily get through in one sitting or return to as and when you have some free time.

If you do decide to play, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have and keep an eye out for more fabulous MadPea events!

Love and stuff,
